Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Hertfordshire (Projects based around Hitchin and surrounding areas)

An established main contractor with a turnover exceeding £100m is looking to recruit a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an A Level student (or school leaver) looking to build a long-term career in construction, gaining hands-on experience while completing a Quantity Surveying degree.

This contractor delivers projects across the education and healthcare sectors, with values ranging from £500k to £20m. They have a strong reputation for quality delivery, staff retention, and investing in their people.

The Role
As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team across multiple projects while working towards your degree qualification.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with cost planning and budgeting
• Supporting with subcontractor procurement and management
• Assisting with valuations and financial reporting
• Learning contract administration and commercial processes
• Supporting senior team members on live projects
You will be mentored by an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor and gain exposure to both site and office environments. All projects are regionally based around Hitchin.
Requirements
• A Level student or recent school leaver
• Strong interest in construction and Quantity Surveying
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A long-term commitment to training and completing a degree
