Social Value Coordinator – Hertfordshire
Salary: £35,000–£55,000

Working hours: 8.30 am–5.30 pm

This is an opportunity to join a mid-sized, family-owned main contractor with more than 40 years’ experience delivering new build, design and build, refurbishment and fit-out projects. The business works across commercial, community and leisure, healthcare, hospitality, retail and other public and private sector schemes, typically valued between £1m and £15m.
You will join an established, friendly business with low staff turnover and a supportive working environment. The company has a strong pipeline of work and continues to grow while keeping a hands-on, approachable feel. You will work from modern, light offices in a central Hertfordshire location with plenty of parking.
Working across framework and project opportunities, you will coordinate the company’s social value commitments from tender stage through to delivery and reporting. This will include working with local communities, schools, colleges, charities, employment partners, supply-chain businesses and project teams to create measurable local impact.
The role suits someone who can take ownership of social value activity across several sites and frameworks, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and make sure commitments are practical, delivered on time and supported by clear evidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate social value plans and commitments across framework bids and live construction projects.
- Work with bid, pre-construction and operational teams to develop realistic, project-specific social value proposals.
- Build relationships with schools, colleges, local authorities, charities, employment providers and community groups.
- Arrange and support work experience, careers events, site visits, employability sessions, apprenticeships and local recruitment activity.
- Engage with the supply chain to increase local spend, SME participation and wider community benefits.
- Track targets, outcomes and supporting evidence against framework and client requirements.
- Prepare clear monthly and quarterly reports, case studies and updates for clients, framework partners and senior management.
- Maintain accurate records and help improve the company’s approach to social value across future bids and projects.
About You
- Experience in a social value, community engagement, CSR, employability or stakeholder coordination role.
- Construction industry experience is essential, ideally gained with a main contractor or within the built environment, including exposure to public-sector frameworks.
- A practical understanding of social value commitments, delivery plans, evidence gathering and reporting.
- Confident building relationships with clients, project teams, community organisations, education providers and supply-chain partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and case studies.
- Organised and able to manage activity across several projects, deadlines and stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently while keeping wider teams informed.
