We are recruiting for a Sub Agent or Site Agent to join a privately owned groundworks and civil engineering subcontractor on a live scheme in Didcot. The business has been around for a long time, has steady relationships with Tier 1 contractors, and works across non-residential civils, highways, infrastructure, foundations, drainage, roads, groundworks and site preparation projects. The work is varied, usually up to around £4m in value, and the company still has a smaller, family-run feel rather than feeling too corporate.

This would suit a Sub Agent who has worked up from an engineering background, or someone in an Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager-type role who still enjoys being close to the work on site. You will be working closely with the wider project team, subcontractors and client representatives, managing progress, programme, quality, health and safety, materials, records and day-to-day site activity.

  • Sub Agent, Site Agent or Assistant Project Manager level role with a civil engineering contractor
  • Based on the Didcot scheme, with possible future work within a commutable distance of Hemel Hempstead
  • Working hours: 07:00 – 17:00, with 1 hour break
  • Projects usually include highways, infrastructure, groundworks, drainage, roads, structures, public realm and site preparation works
  • Role may be based on one project or across several schemes, depending on workload

The Role

  • Preparing and reviewing RAMS
  • Managing programmes, phasing and site progress
  • Supporting health, safety, quality and environmental standards on site
  • Carrying out measures and take-offs using Bluebeam
  • Material take-offs, call-offs, stock checks and reconciliations
  • Assisting with material procurement
  • Delivering toolbox talks
  • Supporting lift plans, temporary works reviews and inspection test plans
  • Keeping accurate site and quality records
  • Attending site meetings and liaising with the wider project team
  • Cat and genny scanning and service marking
  • Helping with change management and commercial information where needed

What We Are Looking For

  • Sub Agent, Site Agent, Section Engineer, Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager-type background within civil engineering
  • Strong civils, highways or infrastructure background
  • Could suit someone who started out as an Engineer and has moved into wider site delivery, coordination or management
  • Experience working on live site-based projects
  • Confident with RAMS, programmes, site records and quality paperwork
  • Bluebeam experience for measures and take-offs
  • CSCS card required
  • SSSTS or SMSTS preferred
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach

Why Apply?

  • Good salary and package
  • Commercial vehicle and fuel card or car allowance plus mileage
  • Work on a live Didcot infrastructure scheme
  • Varied civil engineering and highways work
  • Smaller team feel, with proper involvement on site
  • Long-term workload and progression available
