The Role – HV Senior Project Engineer

As a High Voltage Senior Project Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across multiple HV schemes. Candidates must have proven high‑voltage experience and HV design capability — this is essential.

You will play a key technical role, including:

  • Leading and coordinating HV engineering activities on multiple projects
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and discussing design packages and technical drawings
  • Providing technical input into project programmes and delivery plans
  • Supporting HV design development and ensuring compliance with standards
  • Planning works, identifying risks, and ensuring engineering assurance
  • Offering tender support for new HV schemes, including technical evaluation
  • Liaising with clients, National Grid, airport authorities, and commercial operators
  • Ensuring safety, quality, and HV regulatory compliance throughout project delivery

Projects typically range from £10k to £2m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical support on HV systems, designs, and installations
  • Lead the engineering aspects of high‑voltage projects across airport, commercial, and grid environments
  • Interpret electrical designs, ensuring buildability and compliance
  • Assist with procurement, technical submissions, and contractor coordination
  • Attend site visits to assess progress, design adherence, and safety compliance
  • Support project planning, scheduling, documentation, and reporting
  • Maintain risk registers, quality control, and engineering assurance documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Commercial, Operations, and Engineering

  • High voltage engineering experience (essential)
  • High voltage design experience (essential)
  • Strong understanding of HV installations, switchgear, transformers, protection systems

  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Comfortable working across airports, commercial sites, and National Grid environments
  • Willingness to visit sites nationally when required
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and high‑quality engineering
