Senior Estimator required for a well-established and financially secure main contractor based in Bedford. This is an office-based Senior Estimator role with site visits, working on refurbishment, fit-out, extension and new build projects across the public and private sectors.
The company is looking for an experienced construction estimator with proven estimating and overall bid management capability. You will price projects, manage tender submissions and coordinate the bid process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Senior Estimator Role
Based from the Bedford office, you will take the lead on estimating and bid management across a varied mix of construction projects, typically ranging from £500,000 to £2 million.
Projects include refurbishment, fit-out, extension and new build schemes across both public and private sector clients, with work including civic, commercial, education, local authority and general building projects.
As Senior Estimator, you will review tender opportunities, prepare accurate cost estimates, manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries, coordinate bid information and help ensure submissions are competitive, compliant and delivered on time.
The role is office-based, with site visits as required to support tender reviews, scope understanding and bid preparation.
Senior Estimator Responsibilities
- Preparing accurate construction estimates and tender submissions
- Managing the full bid process from enquiry through to submission
- Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and scope of works
- Issuing subcontractor and supplier enquiries
- Assessing subcontractor quotations and building up tender costs
- Preparing take-offs, tender breakdowns and pricing documents
- Coordinating programme, methodology and commercial information for bids
- Working closely with commercial, operational and pre-construction teams
- Identifying risk, value engineering opportunities and tender clarifications
- Attending tender handover meetings and supporting successful project starts
Senior Estimator Experience Required

You may currently be working as a:
- Senior Estimator
- Estimator
- Bid Manager with estimating experience
- Pre-Construction Estimator
You must have proven construction estimating experience and be confident managing the overall bid process, including tender reviews, subcontractor enquiries, pricing, risk review, clarifications and final submission.
A construction-related qualification is not essential. The company values practical estimating experience, commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines just as highly as formal qualifications.
