An experienced Quantity Surveyor is required to join its Northampton office. Established for over 100 years, the business is one of the region’s best-known main contractors, with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects for both public and private sector clients.

You will be based in Northampton and travel to sites across Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. It would suit someone living in the Bedford area who is happy to cover the wider region.

The business offers the stability of a long-established, privately owned contractor alongside the variety of a business working across a wide range of sectors. The company has a strong pipeline of regional work, long-standing client relationships and a high level of repeat business, giving you the chance to work on well-run projects without being tied to one site or sector.

The business combines a traditional, people-focused approach with modern construction methods and a clear commitment to quality, safety and sustainability. Its industry accreditations, award-winning projects and focus on developing long-term careers make this a strong move for a Quantity Surveyor looking for security and progression with a respected contractor.

The role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the commercial side of your own schemes from pre-construction through to final account. Projects will include both new-build and refurbishment work in the healthcare, education and commercial sectors.

You will work closely with site and office teams, keeping costs, valuations, variations, subcontractor accounts and commercial reporting on track throughout each project.

The right person

You will need at least four years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a general building contractor, working on either new-build or refurbishment projects.

You should be comfortable taking responsibility for your own projects and dealing with the day-to-day commercial duties. Good communication, IT and organisational skills are important, along with a practical approach to working with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
