Quantity Surveyor – Fit Out / Refurbishment

Location: Office-based in Northampton with nationwide travel (once a week on average)
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Laptop & Phone + Pension + Travel Expenses
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Holiday: 22 days + Bank Holidays

About the Role

We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Principal Contractor delivering high-specification fit-out and refurbishment projects across the UK.

Projects range from £1m–£4m, with occasional schemes up to £16m, across sectors including stadiums, museums, high-end retail, hospitality, and commercial interiors.

You’ll take ownership of schemes from pre-construction through to handover, managing multiple fast-paced projects with short timelines (typically 4–12 weeks).

Key Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of projects from inception to completion
• Looking after valuations, variations, applications for payment, final accounts
• Assist with procurement of specialist interior packages and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Measure and value works on-site
• Run multiple schemes simultaneously (typically 3).
• Manage 4–14 subcontractors per scheme and 8–18 packages per project.
• Attend site visits weekly (or more as required).

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in fit-out/refurbishment, ideally commercial contracting.
• Will consider a strong Assistant QS or Intermediate QS ready to step up.
• Housing refurbishment experience considered.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage short timelines.
• Strong financial and contractual knowledge.
