The Company

An opportunity has arisen for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a chartered consultancy in Chesterfield, providing Quantity Surveying support services to some of the UK’s leading construction companies. They work largely on the contractor side, delivering refurbishment and infrastructure works across real estate, MOD, MOJ and wider public sector estates. Projects include social housing, central government buildings, commercial offices, defence estates and prison refurbishment.

The business has recently merged with a major international consultancy, giving access to global expertise and a large worldwide office network.

The consultancy operates from modern, open-plan offices with a professional team of more than 50 Quantity Surveyors, creating a collaborative and energetic working environment.

Working Hours

The Managing Quantity Surveyor can choose one of the following working patterns:

7.30 to 4.30
8.00 to 5.00
8.30 to 5.30
9.00 to 6.00

The Role – Managing Quantity Surveyor

The consultancy has opportunities to work on social housing refurbishment schemes and design and build refurbishment projects. The role is based in Chesterfield with regular site visits across the region. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will oversee commercial delivery across multiple live schemes, support the wider commercial team and act as a senior point of contact for clients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading cost management, valuations, variations, reporting, procurement strategy, commercial governance and mentoring Quantity Surveyors within the team. The role offers exposure to a diverse workload and the opportunity to take ownership of commercial performance across a portfolio of refurbishment projects.

High-level security clearance may be required for some projects. This will be arranged and obtained for the successful candidate as part of the onboarding process.

The Right Person – Managing Quantity Surveyor

An experienced Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor from a main contractor background who understands the fundamentals of Quantity Surveying and is confident leading commercial delivery across refurbishment schemes. Experience with NEC forms of contract is useful. The role suits someone who values a professional environment, a varied workload and long term development.
