Overview
A leading, financially secure contractor with over 50 years of successful delivery is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the estimating function, with a clear pathway to progress into a Pre‑Construction Manager role.
The company operates across healthcare, MOD, commercial and education sectors, delivering both new build and refurbishment projects ranging from £100k to £12m. Known for integrity, strong margins, low‑risk project selection and exceptionally fast subcontractor payments (typically 7–14 days), this is a business where hard work is genuinely rewarded.
The Role – Estimator
As an Estimator, you will work closely with a supportive manager and an experienced commercial team. You will analyse tender documentation, liaise with the supply chain for pricing, prepare tender submissions and support the wider pre‑construction process. The role offers autonomy, trust and the ability to focus on meaningful work rather than unnecessary processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and analysing tender packs across a range of sectors
- Preparing accurate cost estimates for new build and refurbishment schemes
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Preparing tender submissions and supporting bid presentations where required
- Working collaboratively with the commercial and operational teams
- Managing multiple tenders simultaneously within required deadlines
- Supporting the development of pre‑construction processes as the function grows
The Right Person – Estimator
- Experience as an Estimator within a general contracting environment
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and pricing
- Ability to analyse tender information and produce accurate cost plans
- Confident liaising with subcontractors and building strong supply‑chain relationships
- Highly organised, commercially aware and able to work independently
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
Intermediate and Senior Estimators will be considered.
