The Role

The Design Manager will join a team of three Design Managers and a Document Controller, reporting directly to the Head of Design. The role is hybrid from day one with a balanced mix of office, site and home working. The position involves managing design information across two to three live schemes, coordinating drawings and specifications, supporting project teams and ensuring information is issued accurately and in line with programme requirements.

Key responsibilities include coordinating consultant and subcontractor information, maintaining design trackers, supporting technical reviews, assisting with buildability discussions and keeping information flowing smoothly across all stakeholders. The role requires strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.

The position suits someone from a consultancy, SME contractor, Tier 2 contractor or an architectural background who is ready to move into a Design Manager role. The individual will be confident working with drawings, specifications and coordination tasks, able to manage deadlines and comfortable communicating with project teams, consultants and subcontractors. A proactive approach, strong software capability and a clear understanding of construction processes are essential.
