This is an opportunity to join a mid-sized, family-owned main contractor with more than 40 years’ experience delivering new build, design and build, refurbishment and fit-out projects. The business works across commercial, community and leisure, healthcare, hospitality, retail and other public and private sector schemes, typically valued between £1m and £15m.
You will join an experienced commercial team of six, with low staff turnover and high morale. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the workload is strong, and the company has continued to grow while keeping a hands-on, approachable feel. You will work from modern, light offices in a central Hertfordshire location with plenty of parking.
You will manage a couple of schemes at the same time, including a £7m office fit-out for a public-sector client that is currently halfway through construction, alongside a £2m refurbishment and fit-out of an existing laboratory and office building for a government client. The role is mainly based at the company’s Letchworth office, with one day a week spent visiting projects around Teddington, Twickenham and South West London.
This is a senior, hands-on role where you will take commercial responsibility for projects from lead-in through to final account. You will be trusted to run your own workload, make commercial decisions, manage risk and provide clear commercial guidance to the wider project and management teams. There is also flexibility for a degree of hybrid working.
