Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor

Our client is a construction consultancy based in Watford. This role is within its main contracting team, working on super-prime residential and commercial refurbishment schemes valued up to £5m.
- Main Contractor Side – delivering super-prime residential and commercial refurbishment schemes up to £5m.
- Subcontractor Side – delivering balustrades, staircases, balconies and glass packages on major infrastructure and commercial schemes.
The main contracting division is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of its live projects.

The Role
You’ll join the main contracting team, initially taking responsibility for CVRs and cashflow forecasting across live projects. As you settle into the role, you’ll progress towards managing the full commercial delivery of your own scheme from start to final account.
Main Contractor Projects:
- Super-prime residential refurbishment
- High-end residential schemes
- Commercial refurbishment and fit-out
- Projects valued up to £5m
- Pre-construction support, measurement and procurement
How the Role Will Develop:
- Prepare and maintain CVRs
- Produce cashflow forecasts and monitor project spend
- Support valuations, applications for payment and variations
- Assist with procurement and subcontractor management
- Build towards full commercial responsibility for an entire scheme
- Manage projects from pre-construction through to final account
You’ll be based mainly in Watford, with occasional visits to client offices in Bedfordshire (typically twice a month)

About You
- 4 years+ Quantity Surveying experience
- Main contracting experience within refurbishment or high-end residential construction
- Confident producing CVRs and cashflow forecasts
- Commercially aware and comfortable working across live projects
- Strong Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to step up will also be considered
- Experience of JCT contracts, procurement, valuations and variations
- Ready to build towards managing the full commercial delivery of a scheme
