About the Company and Project

Our client is a specialist subcontractor delivering complex construction and fit-out projects across high‑tech, industrial and commercial environments. They cover the full range of internal and associated works required on large technical schemes. This includes fireboarding, dry lining, ceilings, firestopping, flooring, internal doors, external fire‑rated doors, roller shutters, fire curtains, resin flooring and wider building envelope support such as cladding and roofing when required.

You will have full support from the Director, who comes from a commercial background, providing guidance, direction and a reliable point of escalation throughout the project.

This role supports a major internal fit‑out programme operating under NEC conditions within a technically demanding, quality‑driven environment.

Scope of Works

As the Quantity Surveyor, you will manage packages across predominantly internal works, including:

  • Fireboarding
  • Dry lining and ceilings
  • Firestopping
  • Flooring and resin systems
  • Internal and fire‑rated doors with some external doors
  • Roller shutters and fire curtains

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial elements of internal fit‑out packages from procurement through to final account
  • Prepare and administer subcontract orders, variations and payment applications in line with NEC processes
  • Carry out material price checks, benchmarking and supply chain comparisons
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, including valuations, change control, payment notices and final accounts
  • Review and verify worksheets, dayworks and site‑based records to ensure accurate cost capture
  • Produce cost reports, forecasts and value tracking
  • Support procurement, tender analysis and package recommendations
  • Carry out measurements, valuations and cost control throughout the programme
  • Operate mainly site-based, walking the works, checking progress and validating records
  • Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and delivery teams
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and provide clear recommendations

Person Specification

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience across internal fit‑out, fire protection, dry lining, ceilings, flooring or similar packages
  • Hands‑on, and confident, being present on site to understand progress and commercial impact
  • Strong skills in material pricing, subcontractor management and validating work sheets and dayworks
  • Strong commercial management skills across procurement, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
  • Confident working in a fast‑paced, quality‑driven environment
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Able to manage multiple work packages with accuracy and attention to detail

Qualifications

  • HNC or above in a construction‑related discipline
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management preferred
  • NEC contract knowledge preferred
  • CSCS card
